New Yorkers Helping New Yorkers Fight Food Insecurity in NYCHA’s Wyckoff Gardens
Nov 30th, 2021
It goes without saying that we’re committed to delivering high-quality, affordable internet that makes a real difference in our communities. It’s evident in the fact that we’ve brought #HappyInterneting to six cities across the United States. On top of that, we’ve grown our own digital equity program, Starry Connect, to reach more than 40,000 units of public and affordable housing in these communities.
But, our commitment to our communities doesn’t stop at affordable broadband. That’s why we partnered with Related Companies and their NYC residents to give back to one of our newest Starry Connect partners, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), in a meaningful way this holiday season. Together, we distributed more than 200 non-perishable Thanksgiving pantry meal packages to families and adults at NYCHA’s Wyckoff Gardens in Brooklyn, NY to help fight the food insecurity that many New Yorkers face. The Starry team was also on-hand to help Wyckoff residents sign-up for free broadband service through the FCC’s Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBB).
New Yorkers helping New Yorkers; it's what the holiday season is all about! Happy Holidays from Starry!
